Your Home: A Vehicle To Express Your Potential

http://www.slidewardrobesdirect.co.uk/ekmps/shops/manton72/resources/image/sliding%20wardrobe%20shaker%20black1.jpg

This is the third way your home affects you. Your home is a vehicle for expressing yourself, even if you are not a professional home decorator. It is one way of distinguishing yourself from others, of expressing who you really are.

Teenagers often express themselves by throwing their bedrooms into disarray, creating chaos, choosing intense colors and wild posters while they try out different personalities. In doing so, they are trying to define themselves as individuals separate from their families.

Military barracks or monasteries do the opposite. Here your personal space should be simple and undecorated. In doing so, our attention is kept away from your personal needs and, in monasteries,  is focused on a more universal conscience or awareness.

A revelation of yourself

Your home, therefore, may become a revelation of your innermost self. Don’t worry about what is “right” or what “matches” the style in a particular room. Just choose the things you love and that truly express your soul when you create your home environment. The energy and care that you invest in creating your own environment, an environment that really resonates with your aspirations and feelings, will create a space that radiates harmony and warmth, beauty and peace, and these are the qualities that will reflect in your life and that will determine what you attract.

Theme styles

Whether you are aware or not, we create themes in our homes.  A minimalist theme in a dining room with a crystal table and black cabinets might indicate elegance. A country theme in a sitting room, with flower vintage textiles might indicate a desire of being more in contact with natural rhythms.

The theme design you choose for your home provides valuable information about yourself. Usually there are three main reasons for the design styles we choose.

Theme style as metaphor

A theme is often a metaphor of your inner self and may symbolize a quality that you want in your life. For example, you may have a very hectic professional life, but when you get home you look for a sense of peace. In this case you may choose the simplicity of Zen Buddhism for your home with Japanese calligraphy on your walls,  sliding rice paper doors or lamps.

Theme style as ancestral memories

There are memories passed down by your ancestors that may explain why your are drawn to a specific style. Research has found correlations between ancestral homes and thy types of homes in which people feel at home.

Theme style based on experiences from past lives

Although the philosophy of reincarnation is not predominant in Western societies, a large percentage of the world’s population believes in past lives. I had an Italian  friend, for example, who was attracted by the Native American culture and had chosen many Native American objects for her house. She later discovered she had Native American ancestors and, through past life regression, it came out that she had been Native American in a past life.

How is your home organized? What is the theme style you have chosen for your home? Does it reflect a quality that you want in your life? Is you home in line with your inner self?

Get More Integrated With Your Home

http://celeste.ilcannocchiale.it/mediamanager/sys.user/9886/sea-shells_1822.jpg

I woke up very early this morning. My family was still sleeping and it was dawning. My dog was still sleeping too and, as I walked by, he opend one eye to look at me and then went back to sleep.  I sat down on my sofa and looked at an earthenware vase I had hand-built: I remember the whole process of making it and the joy I felt when I took it out of the kiln. I looked at my garden tools next to the window and smiled thinking of how happy I am whenever I spend time gargening and taking care of my vegetable garden.

Nearly 50 years of memories reflected in the objects displayed in my home. My grandmother’s Singer sewing machine, my father’s helicopter model, photograph books….every object carries a memory and has meaning to me.

http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/attachments/appliances/6087d1202157931-appraisal-antique-singer-sewing-machine-frames2.jpg

The objects  you choose for your home are not random. As human beings we tend to invest objects with deeper meaning. The seashells displayed on your coffee table are not just the composite material some mollusks produce as their inner shell and that you like desplayed in your home: it is the shoreline that you walket along at sunset during your last summer vacations. It is your children’s laughter while they were playing on the beach. It is the feeling of the sun warmth on your skin. It is the sense of freedom you experienced. You might not remember all these feelings and associations as you pass by them in your home, but they are there, affecting the way you feel about life.

The meaning of the objects you choose for our homes may be associated with how you feel about:

  • the person who gave them to you
  • the person who made them
  • the place you bought them from
  • the circumstances in your life at the time you bought or received them
  • the meaning they had for the person who gave them to you
  • the memories associated with them
  • their color, smell, sound, touch, and so on
  • what they represent for you

And this applies to everything there is in your home: it will either increase or drain you energy.

Bring Balance To Your Life

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TAm9S4IMSGg/Sce9bJMdUBI/AAAAAAAAE6Y/lVZQEP4gi4Q/s400/balanced-life.jpg

This happens because you tend to choose and organize objects so that they complete a process of integration.  And here are to the second way the objects you choose for your environment affect you:

Your mind constantly rearranges the pieces of your reality so that they have meaning to you. For example if you choose  a painting of a volcano for your living room and you put it next to a photograph of a mountain lake, it might indicate that you are trying to integrate your “explosive” nature with a desire for a quieter, more reflective life.

If you are looking for a romantic and stable relationship and most paintings and pictures in your home show “single” persons, what this might indicate is that deep inside yourself your fear being in a relationship.

When you understand the deeper meaning of the objects in your home and how they represent various aspects of yourself, you can see how the separate parts of yourself are connected and you can alter the symbols in your home to create balance in your life and be what you really want to be.

What do the objects in your home are telling you? What are the memories and associations attached to them?

I’d love to hear from you! And don’t forget to take a moment to share this post on Facebook or Twitter if you got a lot of value out of it!

I’m looking forward to sharing more tips on how to get more integrated with your home. So stop by tomorrow for my next post!

Your Home: A Template For Your Personal and Spiritual Growth

http://www.homehues.com/UserFiles/2007/11/13/Photo%20of%20Living%20room%202l(1).jpg

We are always willing to grow. This is why we are constantly attracted to environments that can “teach” us what we need at a particular time.

The home we choose provides us with what we need to progress along our personal journey. Even if it may seem to lack harmony or be unpleasant sometime, there are never wrong homes: each home offers unique opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.

What home means to you

To better understand the “lesson(s)” your home is teaching you, the first thing you need to do is to clarify with yourself what ‘home’ means to you.

For many people, home is the place where they sleep at night; for other people, home is the place where they were born and grew up. To others, home is the place where you can relax, leaving everything else outside the door. For some people, the idea of home can be linked to the traditions, religion or heritage of a particular culture and feel at home where they are surrounded with things that symbolize those associations.

Understanding the meaning of home helps us understand why we are attracted to particular homes or places.

The objects in your environment influence you

The objects in your environment deeply influence you in three different ways:

1. The symbolisms in the things that you choose for your home reinforce your identity, either positively or negatively.

2. The objects in your home reveal aspects of your innermost self and, therefore, they can help you understand your deepest desires or fears.

2. Your home can become a vehicle to express your potential.

Today I will examine the first way objects in your environment affect you.

Objects as symbols of your identity

Your home is filled with metaphors of your life, even if you are unaware of them. The things surrounding you in your house constantly remind you who you are, directing you towards old patterns of behaviour. Subconscious beliefs are deep-seated and you are often unaware of them.

Your environment doesn’t lie. Go around your house and look at the objects you have placed there as if you were entering your house for the first time. What do they tell you about yourself?

You can use the objects in your environment to release limiting beliefs about yourself and the world. Make changes in your home so that it becomes a powerful affirmation of what you want to become and of what you want to attract into your life.
This method is much stronger and powerful than writing or speaking affirmations because you are immersed in metaphors that constantly support you in becoming what you want to be or attracting what you desire.

It has been shown that spending ten minutes a day writing an affirmation like “I am now attracting abundance and prosperity into my life” has a positive effect in reprogramming your subconscious mind. However, if you create an environment around you that constantly speaks of abundance and prosperity, this idea will be rooted in your subconscious mind day and night.

You may be affirming that you are prosperous because this is what you want to attract into your life. However, if your home is very plain, with little furniture, your walls are painted in dull cream or grey, the energy feels austere, your environment speaks of little resources and this is what you will attract into your life.

In this case you should discover what prosperity means to you and find ways to implement this in your home. So for instance, you may associate prosperity to the color red or gold. In this case, adding red and golden cushions on your sofa may  help create a feeling of opulence.

So, what is your home saying to you? Does it reflect what you want to be or what you want in your life? Has this inspired to make changes in your environment so that it can support you in your life/professional journey?

I’d love to hear from you!  And don’t forget to take a moment to share this post on Facebook or Twitter if you got a lot of value out of it!

I’m looking forward to sharing more tips on how to get more integrated with your home. So stop by tomorrow for my next post!

Vacation’s Resolutions

http://images.forbestraveler.com/media/photos/inspirations/adventure/helicopter-01-g.jpg

Finally I can take a break! For the past weeks I have constantly been looking forward to this moment. There’s been so much going on in my life lately that I felt I could not take in anything else. I really feel overwhelmed.

True, many things have happened and several others are still happening. But this is not the real problem.

The real problem is time management and priorities.

Time management is so important in your personal and professional life. It helps you find time for all the things you have to do in your busy day and for your loved ones. By managing your time properly, you can be sure you do not miss anything and that you allot the right time to the right things.

This is particularly important as an entrepreneur, especially when you have a home-based business: you are exposed to so many interferences and unforeseen events, that time management becomes you #1 tool to avoid failure and frustration.

And priorities. The beautiful – but also difficult to accept – thing about priorities is that they may change as your life changes. You do not need or have to stick to the priorities you set up on New Year’s Eve if your life or business has take a different turn that you could not foresee back then!

So, it is important that you sit down (or go for a walk, as I normally do) to go through your priorities and see if they are still in line with your life or if you need to change something.

Vacations are a fantastic time to take a close look at you priorities and the way you manage your time.

You are away from all those every day, urgent matters that preventy your from taking the necessary quiet time to look at things and see why they are no longer working for you as they used to do.

Moreover, you are sufficently relaxed to look at thing objectively or, at least from another perspective.

So, here I am, just about to leave for my so longed vacation and looking forward to my quiet time to go through my priorities, commitments, beliefs and you name it to set my short-term as well as long-term resolutions.

Do you also use your vacations to go through your priorities and committments? Leave me a comment below with your feedback and let me know what you do when you need to rearrange your priorities!

Feel free to retweet this post on Twitter and share it with your Facebood friends!

Do You Harness The Power Of Affirmations?

http://oneframeofmind.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/affirmations.jpg

Affirmations are one of the most powerful tools available to us to change our thought patterns.  By positively affirming what you want to attract into your life, you gradually release your negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones that vibrate at the right frequency, attracting what you desire.

Affirmations should be part of your daily personal growth routine because they really enhance your motivation and determination, putting you on the right track  towards making the necessary steps and actions to achieve your goals.

As entrepreneurs, affirmations help us stay focused on our objectives; they are the fuel that boosts our motivation and constantly “test” our determination.

You may say: “Right, I agree. However, I have so many things to include in my daily schedule and there are only 24 hours in a day. Affirmations are just one additional task”.

I have devised a way to be sure I never forget practicing my affirmations.

Instead of sitting at my desk writing my affirmations several times, I do what I like to call my “Dynamic meditation”: affirmations, to me, are indeed a form of meditation.

The first thing I do when I wake up is a 30 minute power walking routine. Walking (or jogging) is a very automatic activity and does not require much concentration (except for watching your step!). This is a very good time to practice your affirmations.

When your fast walk or jog, you can time your step at the rhythm of your affirmations that become your mantra for the day.

Remember: affirmations must be in the present tense and be structured as if you already have what your are stating. Choose affirmations that best apply to you or that you feel better about.

The Universe does not distinguish between affirmative and negative affirmations. So, if you say: “I don’t want to be fat anymore!”, what the Universe receives is: “I want to be fat” and you will never lose any weight.

If you say: “I will be more prosperous”, you will never attract prosperity. It will remain in the future.

So here are some affirmations that you can use to build a successful business and attract financial prosperity:

  • I am a money magnet
  • I am now in the process of creating prosperity through my ideas, energy, and passion, for my highest good and for the good of everyone else involved
  • All my investments bring me profit
  • All the money I need and desire is always available to me
  • All I spend comes back to mi tripled
  • My thoughts always turn into prosperity and abundance
  • The more I give, the more I get back
  • I attract all the prosperity I desire effortlessly thanks to the power of my intentions
  • I happily accept all the gifts that are given to me
  • I am a successful entrepreneur
  • I have a successful and prosperous online and offline business
  • I attract new customers everyday
  • There is always plenty for everybody
  • I am surrounded by abundance and prosperity

If you are new to affirmations, try repeating them regularly two or three times a day (early in the morning and before going to bed, for example) for a month and observe the results.

I would really like to know from you if you “harness” the power of affirmations and how you use them. Leave me your comments below and if you have found my suggestions useful, please re-tweet this post to your Twitter friends or share it on Facebook.

Monetize Your Blog By Creating Your Own Courses

As a blogger or Internet/social media marketer, your #1 priority is to share tips, ideas, strategies and concepts in the form of articles, videos, blog posts to your readers and followers. The more valuable your content, the more eager your readers are to come back to your blog.

However, you work hard, you make a lot of effort to build your blog and your content and then you wander if you will ever be able to earn from it.

Actually, there are many ways to monetize your blog, but one that works very well and that gives you a lot of satisfaction is creating your own courses.

Yes, you can package your expertise and the great and valuable content that you are offering in a course format for your readers. And you know what? People are not willing to pay for information, but they are willing to pay to acquire new skills.

Clearly you must know how to create your own course or program.

My friends Leo Barbuta and Mary Jaksch have packed everything you need in order to create courses and membership programs into one affordable 5-day course:
Ramp Up Your Blog: Create Courses that Sell

Let’s see what are the key steps they identify for creating a course that sells.

Plan Your Course

Your expertise and your passion should form the topic and content of your course. You cannot teach something you don’t know anything or you’re not passionate about.

You then need to identify the market for your product, and therefore the learning needs of your niche, and what Leo and Mary call your “Unique Selling Point”.

Build An Email List

Every successful Internet and Social Media Marketer and Blogger will tell you that ‘The money is in the list’: you will never earn anything from your blog, product, course if you don’t have a list of potential buyers or customers you can promote your offer to.

Sell With Confidence and Integrity

As a blogger you should never forget who important integrity is to build solid relationships with your readers.  They will be eager to pay for your course only if they trust you and know that what you offer is ALWAYS valuable.

Set Up Your Course Simply And Cheaply

There are crucial ingredients that make courses successful, and these ingredients are not necessarily complex and expensive. You can build valuable course offers using simple and cheap solutions.

Payment terms and procedures and the use of email autoresponders are also key for a positive course experience that you would also be willing to recommend to others.

Create a Membership Program

Choosing the right membership program model is key to offer a product that rocks!.

To be successful, membership programs must have some specific components: they should integrate with your blog, they should have a forum and the right management strategy.

Seems a lot to know, isn’t it? But with the right guidance and coaching it is not so difficult and, above all, it’s fun!

All the details of Leo’s and Mary’s “Ramp Up Your Blog: Create Courses that Sell” Bootcamp can be found here:
Ramp Up Your Blog: Create Courses that Sell

So…did you find this post valuable? Are your ready to create your own courses and programs? If not, what is it that still holds you from creating them? Let me know! And don’t forget to re-tweet this to your Twitter friends or share it on Facebook.

How To Get Rid Of Negative Thought Patterns

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff177/salviaforme/album2/monitorthoughts-4.jpg

Habits and thought patterns (including prejudice and preconceptions) are really handy and give you a sense of safety. A false safety though because they are harmful to us and to others.

Unfortunately negative thought patterns are very common and mass media, focusing on bad news and gossip, play an important role in forming them.

“Not Me”

A particular form of negative thought patterns is thinking badly of oneself. This can originate from a number of causes, such as poor self-esteem, trying to adjust to social conventions, making oneself interesting to others, and so on. It is therefore important to identify the cause of your negative thought patterns as soon as possible and release it.

Recipes For Failure

The following are “recipes” to ensure failure:

  • “It cannot work!
  • “I told you it would end up badly”
  • “I’m afraid that….”
  • “It serves him/her right”
  • “This is illogical”
  • “This is the right way to do it”
  • “It’s a waste of time”
  • “This is not my field”
  • “Everybody knows that”
  • “Today is a bad day”
  • “It will always be like that”
  • “People don’t change”
  • “I’m sure he/she will say no”
  • “Today he/she is in a bad mood”
  • “If you really loved me…”

If you decide you will “never think something again”, you will certainly go on thinking about it continuously.

Ignore Negative Thoughts

A key strategy, however,  is paying no attention to those thoughts or being humorous about them. What you need to pay attention to is the quality of your thoughts: whenever a negative thought crosses your mind (your own thought or somebody else’s thought) simply acknowledge it is there and “tell” it that you don’t need it and release it with love. Yes, with love: don’t feel guilty because you let that thought cross your mind. Getting rid of your negative thought patterns is a process that takes time. So be patient as you go by, and “pat” yourself whenever you spot a new “weed” in your mind.

Learning To “Unlearn”

Remember that we learn to think since the early days of our life and you can always “unlearn” what you have learnt and that is harmful to you. It happens with many other things such as manual skills, things you have studied at school, foreign languages: if you don’t practice them, you forget about them, you “unlearn” them. The same applies to our thoughts: if you don’t indulge in the company of negative thoughts, if you let them go, you will forget to think about them.

Replacing Negative Thought Patterns

The #1 way of getting rid of negative thoughts is to replace them with new, positive thoughts. Whenever you realize you are thinking negatively, try to rephrase your thought and create a positive image.

Here are some examples:

  • If you think you will not be able to complete a task on time, you can think. “I haven’t got much time, so I need to plan my time immediately”
  • If you are planning a trip and somebody says:”I’m sure it will rain”, you may reply: “You never know. Weather forecasts are wrong sometimes. However, we could make an alternative plan in case it does rain”.
  • And if you have or you plan to have your home-based business and somebody tells you: “You will never be successful”, you can ask exactly why you shouldn’t. Don’t start an argument trying to convince the other person: simply listen to what the other person says and see whether you have not taken into account his/her reasons and maybe adjust your business plan/strategy accordingly. You could also work out alternative plans/strategies and test them to see which one is more successful.

You are the only one who controls your thoughts: you can choose the ones that make you feel well and live the life you want.

Let’s Boost Creativity By Pampering The Brain

http://www.lpf.uzh.ch/style/webpicture_3593963.jpg

Our brain is our thought generator, transformer, and transmitter. It’s a complex and delicate machine whose functioning affects the quality of our thoughts.

We all know the brain is divided into two highly specialized hemispheres, each one dealing with specific skills and thought categories. The left hemisphere, for example, is in charge of the logic and analytic reasoning, mathematical calculation and language. The right hemisphere is intuitive and uses images, shapes and colors.

To be really creative, we should synchronize the two hemispheres and use them simultaneously. There are simple exercises that stimulate the simultaneous involvement of the brain hemispheres. However these will be the topic of my next post.

The functioning of the brain is affected by many environmental and physiological factors. Let’s explore some of them and pamper our brain by giving it the things it likes:

  1. Light– Our vital rhythms are regulated by the alternating pattern of daily light and darkness and the regulator of this mechanism, the pituitary gland, is in our brain. You can stimulate this alternate pattern with the following:

-          Take a walk outdoors with every weather conditions;

-          Choose a natural lighting for your office using bulbs that simulate natural light.

2.  Colors – Color should be one of the first needs in our life. If you are feeling depressed, maybe you are surrounding yourself with the wrong colors. When color enlivens your environment, depression disappears. Color has an effect on you in the decoration of your home, in the things you use every day: the color of your car, of your pen, of your suit or dress. If you want money and abundance, you should consider emerald green. Green is very good for your eyesight. To sharpen your mind, yellow: it is invigorating and sharpens nerves and brain. Blood red is often used for healing (scarlet seems to be particularly helpful if you suffer from lumbago or rheumatism). If you suffer from sleeplessness, you should sleep in a blue room. Turquoise blue is most helpful if you suffer from headaches.

You should have plenty of color in your diet. The more colorful the food, the more nourishing it is. Include red tomatoes, yellow melons and grapefruit, green and red apples, blue grapes, red cherries, and so on, in your meals, paying particular attention to what you include in your breakfast: the colors you begin your day with will determine the prosperity and the pleasure you will get out of it. So begin your day with plenty of color.

3. Food – I have already pointed out the importance of a colorful diet. However, other properties of the food are important for your brain: your diet should include abundant antioxidant-rich food that repair damage caused by free radicals to the brain tissue, such as fresh vegetables and whole grain cereals. The main nutrients for the brain are oxygen and glucose. The former is provided by breathing that never stops; the latter comes from food or from glycogen reserves in the liver. It is during the day that the brain mostly needs energy (glucose). So a rich breakfast and lunch with carbohydrates and light snacks mid morning and afternoon and a very light dinner are strongly recommended. When you are really working hard with many commitments, specific supplements, such as vitamins, soy lecithin, royal jelly, and minerals may be very helpful.

4. Perfumes – Aromatherapy acts on the brain and mood through the sense of smell. There are essential oils that favor relaxation, concentration, or good mood.

-          For relaxing: melissa officinalis, chamomile, sweet marjoram

-          For concentration: basil, petit-grain, rosemary

-          For your good mood: neroli, rose, ylang ylang

Use these oils in oil burners, in your bath, on your pillow to improve the quality of your thoughts.

Statistics Show That Social Media Is The Present

http://denniswolff.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/social-media-waste-of-time.jpg

I was reading some social media statistics the other day showing the extent of this…how should I call it? Phenomenon? Revolution? Tzunami?

Social Media is indeed a fundamental shift in the way we communicate.

As the statistics point out, social media is the #1 activity on the Internet, overtaking porno.

The Statistics

Browsing through the statistics, the picture that emerges is very interesting:

  • Social networks are a place where you meet people and build relationships  (both personal and business relationships)
  • Companies and entrepreneurs who successfully use social media act more as aggregators and content providers than traditional advertisers
  • Social media are also extensively used for education and the number of online students outperformed that of students receiving face-to-face education
  • 55-65 year-old females is the fastest growing segment on Facebook
  • More than 1.5 million pieces of content (web links, news, blog posts, notes, photos, etc.) are shared on Facebook daily
  • Companies tend to resort primarily to Linkedin to find employees
  • Video has become the #1 communication tool and YouTube is #2 largest search engine in the world
  • There are over 200,000,000 blogs
  • 34% of bloggers post opinions about products and brands and  80% of consumers trust peer recommendations
  • Emails are used less and less

World Of Mouth

I think that never in the past communication has been so global: “Because of the speed in which social media enables communication, word of mouth now becomes world of mouth”, an article says.

WORLD of mouth! Facebook alone has recently announced they are hitting 300 million users. What an exposure your business has today! You start online and you immediately are in the world market. A dream that only few achieved only twenty years ago!

Finding your market niche should not be difficult in such an environment: any business, any product may get to the right audience in such a huge market.

Don’t Get Overwhelmed

The opportunities and the tools for growing a business and building your personal brand are there. You can pick and choose: there is literally everything you may possibly need. The only secret is knowing how to use these resources properly: such an abundance of media and such exposure may be overwhelming at times.
